Myanmar beauty queen Nang Khin Zayar is preparing to compete in the Miss World 2013 pageant in Indonesia in September by exercising daily and practicing English, she said.
“I was invited to participate at the Miss World 2013 while competing in Miss International 2012 … now, I’m preparing for the competition. I’m exercising at the gymnasium and will have to prepare for the other requirements, including English,” she said.
“I decided to participate at the competition because I want Myanmar to be recognised by the international community,” Nang Khin Zayar explained.
The 24-year-old Shan beauty shot to fame last year after winning the Miss Myanmar pageant, and the Miss Internet and People’s Choice awards at the Miss International pageant in Japan. It was the first time Myanmar competed in an international beauty pageant since 1962.
Nang Khin Zayar will be the first contestant from Myanmar to participate in the Miss World pageant in September.
She said it was time consuming to prepare for the pageant and that she had yet to select her outfits. She will discuss her clothing with her designer, she said.
Nang Khin Zayar also said that she would learn from the obstacles she faced at the Miss International pageant last year. The Miss World pageant will be held in the Indonesian capital and on the resort island of Bali.
