Tara Teng, Canada’s representative to Miss World 2012, was the recipient of a prestigious award last week in recognition of her continued efforts in both her local community and around the world.
At an award ceremony on the 24th of November in the Township of Langley, in British Colombia, Canada, Teng was presented with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, along with 29 other residents of the community who have made outstanding contributions to their communities and country.
Accepting her award she said “It’s just a great encouragement to keep on doing what we’re doing.”
Continuing she expressed how honoured she felt to be in the group of award winners. “You are not only receiving [the award] from Mark Warawa, one of the leaders of Langley, but also from the Queen… Just to be amongst these incredible leaders, to hear their stories and the things they are doing, it’s amazing to be counted as one of them.”
